From the legendary edelweiss to the impressive royal eagle, from the gentle marmot to the nimble chamois, there is plenty of animal and plant life to see.
The patient art of walking is the best way to experience this landscape, although many mountain passes are connected by road so you can enjoy these splendid panoramic views.
On the road...
Beaufortain is also an essential stopover on the legendary Great Alpine Road, which has connected Thonon and Lake Léman to Menthon and the French Riviera for over a century already. The area also benefits from the presence of its famous neighbours: the majestic Mont Blanc; Annecy Lake, whose crystalline waters are the cleanest in Europe; the medieval capital of French-speaking Switzerland, Geneva; and the dolce vita of Italy.
